- Construction Details:
This costume is based on the Scooby Doo version of the Clue board game, which had Daphne dressed as Miss Scarlet. Although the dress length isn't obvious from the box art, the game token for Daphne showed it as a minidress.
I made the dress as a strapless red satin minidress and a separate bolero jacket that attaches with the two rhinestone brooches. The dress is fully lined and has boning in the bodice. I used scraps of leftover satin to cover a plastic headband and the wig is borrowed from my Youko cosplay.
The jewelry was done last minute before Otakon so I had to cobble it together from stuff I had around the house. ^_^;; The brooches were layers of Bristol paper covered with silver fabric. I sewed pinbacks to the back and glued rhinestones to the front. The earrings and bracelet were large oval flatback pearl pieces that I painted with nail polish. I glued clip-on earring backs to the pearl pieces for earrings. I took a piece of leftover trim from my Kyoya costume, sewed a snap button to the ends and glued more pearl pieces to it for the bracelet.
I still want to make a Colonel Mustard costume for my Scooby plushie since this is pretty obscure and unrecognizable on its own.
- Personal Thoughts:
I love Scooby Doo and own a copy of the game so I thought it would be fun to also do this version of Daphne. I started working on this around the same time I was making her regular purple dress last Halloween but didnít finish it in time so the almost finished dress went into my closet for a while.
Despite it being pretty random and non-anime related, I finished this up for Otakon. I had planned to take advantage of my hotel for photos since it had a library off the lobby and a library is one of the rooms in the Clue game. But I found out a couple of hours before I left for Baltimore that my hotel had overbooked and I was getting moved to the Hilton so library pics never happened. Bah. >_<
- Styling Notes
- The only thing I did to the wig was cut bangs into it.
