About this Costume
Construction Details:
I made this in about 2-3 weeks before AX?? I actually READ AND FOLLOWED directions on a pattern to make the vest, it's fully lined and I am so proud of myself even though it gave me a bit of trouble at times. ;0; The hardest part was figuring out how to do the "heart" shaped pieces on the front of the vest, I ended up putting the vest on and tracing the outline of my bra using tailor's chalk! Everything else was fairly easy, just a bit tedious like hand sewing the pink maribou trim or measuring out the length of the skirt.

I know she wears boots, but I didn't know where to buy cheap-ish boots at the last minute, so I hit up Payless and bought some mary janes instead (my favorite style too), and painted them with fabric paint like I did with my Puru-chan shoes. 2 base coats of white, 3 of azalea pink in case you were wondering! :)

Personal Thoughts:
I made this specifically for the Funimation booth, it was my first time volunteering, and it was fun but extremely tiring!! Shion Arita, a booth babe of sorts? THAT'S TOTALLY IN CHARACTER, RIGHT? My fiance is a huge fan of the original OVA -and- Decode, so that's another reason why I wanted to do this costume, plus it's a great series overall! :D I'd never have the confidence to pull off Birdy's regular outfit, so I opted to pick something that her alter ego wears since she has so many cute outfits!! No one really knew who I was cosplaying as, but that's okay since a lot of people liked my costume... especially kids! XD I never want to sew this much satin in such a short amount of time ever again.

p.s. I AM NOT ATHENA ASAMIYA.

p.p.s. DESUUUUUUUUUUU

Styling Notes
The same wig I used for Seychelles, gorgeous wig but man does it tangle like crap. No styling done to this one, I just stick the headband on and I'm good to go.
Wig Review
I purchased this from Peri-Wig, but this particular style isn't available on their site anymore. I do love the color of this wig and it photographs nicely, but it tangles like a mofo and I'm surprised it hasn't completely died yet. I only recommend them if you're looking for cheap quality, cheap price wigs so don't expect anything spectacular. The color wig you actually get can be hit or miss too, I've noticed their wigs tend to be darker than what's actually shown on their site.
