Construction Details:

I made this costume at the last minute for D*C last year because I wanted a new costume to wear and this one was fun and cute AND easy! The yukata is made from 2 layers of white cotton to keep the red lining from peeking through. The obi is a mock obi since I'd like to be able to get dressed myself, and peltex (heavy interfacing) is used in the "bow" part of the obi to keep it sticking up.

The designs on the obi and the sleeves is appliqued and fully satin stitched. (Boy, I really seem to enjoy applique and satin stitching lately, don't I?)

The mask is made from foamies and model magic. I sanded it and painted it and attached it to a blue headband. Although, my hubby stepped on the mask and broke one of the ears off so before I could wear her again to Ohayo 2011, I had to hot glue it back together and coat the entire thing in resin. Then, I sanded and repainted it. :)
