About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume is all sorts of tacky but I used it as a way to experiment with finishing techniques. I love the inside of my shirt way more than the outside because even though the lines are (sloppily) drawn on, all of the seams are either captured in a french seam or hand sewn bias tape. The black side detail is also hand sewn. The skirt has about 40 hammered grommets in it and pleats on the sides for extra volume. The shoes are detail painted and absolutely hideous because Oda is apparently color blind and thought orange, black, sky blue, green and red all go together. All the detail on the head scarf is quilted as well.
Personal Thoughts:
I don't even know where to begin with this costume. It's mostly based off of images from episode 4 of the anime and issue one of the manga and I love Makino. I think she is absolutely adorable, especially in how much she loves Luffy. A big thank you to Hole for sticking it out in little Luffy with me at Sakuracon.
