About this Costume
Construction Details:
Started with the wig (took me awhile to hunt down a color I was happy with!) and then matched everything else from there.

The main costume is a leotard + shawl thingy that I left in the jungle for a few days.

The butterflies are foamie and copies of the butterflies seen on the classic close-up shot of the Sprite. There's vines spread throughout the shawl and wig (painted the leaves to match) and some long feathers that I cut to look like smaller vines.

Yes, my eyes are photoshopped. I had a lousy experience with contacts once before and my eyes are just far too sensitive for them. Sue me :p

The makeup had some problems staying on (boo water based paint D: ) so I'm trying something else next time...Damn hard to match this color.
Personal Thoughts:
"The Firebird" is my favorite piece of animation ever. It's so moving and beautiful and the climax at the end makes me bawl like bitch; the combination of the music and visuals does it. It pains me that it's so underrated because it's such a gorgeous example of traditional animation and should be seen more.

2010 was the 10 year anniversary of the film (YAY MATH) so I pressed myself to finish it for this year. I did see it in IMAX when it first came out - The Firebird waking up still catches me by surprise! The Sprite and Firebird are also making a comeback in the World of Color show in Disneyland- thanks for remembering them, Disney!
