Cosplayer TwiliteSea > Costume of Megara from Hercules
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Made without a pattern (god bless dressforms). I abused a gathering-stitch technique I picked up from my Costume Construction course for most of this. The base dress fabric is seersucker-esque and the sash is taffeta, iirc.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I made this in like, 4 days. But it seems I do my best work when I rush! I'm really friggin' proud of this thing, and I love love LOVE Meg so I was happy to finally cosplay this dame.
Like Beauty & The Beast, I got a real connection to Hercules. I was in Disney's MGM Studios when the movie came out and saw the parade that promoted it. I also met one of the cel artists from the film who signed my "How to Draw Hercules" book (still got it!). I also remember never owning the film as a kid but always watched it when I went to Bed Bath & Beyond/Linens N Things. Always had to leave at the Hydra fight, oddly enough...
But Megara is the one Disney character I most identify with. We're independent and strong, but we have had our problems in the past which makes it difficult to trust new people.
