About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Rosette is one of the most solidly made costumes I've ever done; the top half of the dress was done using an altered Edwardian pattern and the rest I patterned myself. The entire dress and habit are fully lined, and the collar and all white trim was stiffened using craft foam. The corset is based on a pirate under-bust pattern and is steel boned, closing in the front with metal clasps and Velcro. All of the accents are craft foam and painted plastic, except the cross on the collar which is made from metal. My favorite part, however, is the watch, which is made from pained soft Sculpty, steel wires for the cage and accepts and the remnants of a wristwatch which actually keeps perfect time!
- Personal Thoughts:
- I've always liked Chrono Crusade and been a fan of its female protagonist, Rosette Christopher. My friend Linker was also a Chrono fan and the two of us had discussed cosplaying as Rosette and Chrono for several years, but never found a good opportunity to do so. However, when it came time for our cosplay group to decide on costumes for our Anime Boston 2010 masquerade skit, Linker suggested Chrono Crusade. The series fit perfectly with our "relationship battlefield" theme and the costumes and props worked with our desire to mix dancing and stage combat.
