About this Costume
Construction Details:
This was probably the easiest costume I've ever done. It also holds a special place in my heart because Misty was my very first cosplay back when I was 14 and It's amazing how much you can improve on a costume that, both times, was mostly bought. The shirt started as a yellow tank top, that I shortened and re-hemmed. The suspenders were bought as-is from the thrift store, and the shorts were a thrift store purchase as well. I dyed them in teal, to give them a color slightly closer to the animation. The wig started out as an Orihime wig that I bought second-hand off a friend. I then proceeded to chop, back-comb, and hair-spray it to high heavens. despite my best efforts, the ponytail just wouldn't stick straight out, and I couldn't cut it any shorter or I wouldn't be able to keep it all in the ponytail. The shoes started as a pair of cheap ugg knockoffs from Value Village. I cut them down to the proper height, and then proceeded to cover them in pieces of red and white vinyl, to re-create the cartoony style of the Pokemon shoes. The yellow lightning pattern was painted on afterward. This costume was made and worn for NOTN's SakuraCon 2010 skit "How 2BA Pokemon Master". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNTrQzqXiWs
