Cosplayer Hime no Toki > Costume of Reimi Sugimoto from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Completed April 2010 I made this costume to represent some Jojo love at Fanime - I had just got done reading Part 4 and I loved Reimi, and her outfit wasn't too difficult to make in a short amount of time. Artwork inconsistencies were very annoying to deal with - her sandal straps and armbands in particular have a nasty habit of changing from image to image. I worked with what I had, JoJo is known for not being very consistent so I try not to let it bother me *too* much. It was pretty interesting thinking of a color scheme to use since I only had black and white manga images to base it off of, but I went with a pink scheme because it's mentioned she has pink nails, and I always thought of her as a blonde when reading, so I went with that info and worked with it. The main dress was made by heavily altering a blouse pattern, which turned into me ending up making a mock-up from it and then went from there to make the actual dress out of some nice pink linen. It was a bit of a pain in the rear to get it to fit well, but I finally managed to after several attempts! The dress is fully serged and faced around the armholes, collar, and front. The pink armbands were a bit of a pain in the butt, because of the 'strips' of fabric at the bottom. I used stretch knit to make those. The neckband is just some fabric, and I made the handshake pendant out of Paperclay, painted it, and sealed it. I made the daisy rings out of buttons and ties, ghetto and yet...very effective!
- Personal Thoughts:
- Part 4 LOVE. My boyfriend got me into Jojo, and I've been so addicted to it since. It was really hard to pick a character to cosplay as, I like to think of Jojo as a potato chip series, you can't just pick ONE character. Eventually I'll be cosplaying some more Jojo, it's too much fun not to!
