About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- The color gradients on the collar and skirts were airbrushed on instead of dyed, which turned out to be my favorite part of the whole outfit. Bodysuit was made by me using an awesome pattern from my lovely friends Carly/hailo and Erica/Kairi_G! The chest bow is two rectangular pieces of satin and interfacing scrunched together. Butt bow is 2 layers of chiffon, 6 layers of nylon netting with a built-in wire frame. The crotch heart was made by Minakokitty (who made all the resin hearts for our group) and my transformation locket was made by the incredible Jolean from Southern Moon Creations. All other accessories (jewelry, hair doodads, glove rolls) were made by me. Tip for anyone who intends to trim down boots with scissors: don't cut off your zipper pull. You will be spending an entire night trying to force it back on, and it will probably end up zipping backwards. If you're lucky.
- Personal Thoughts:
- This was my way of going back in time and giving my high school self a hug. I fell back in love with Sailormoon in the summer of 2009 and wanted to do some version of her Super form. Naoko did some neat little designs for the re-launch of the Sailormoon Channel website, and one in particular grabbed me (http://mangastyle.net/gensaku/Summer_2002_Splash.jpg). I liked the combination of both her manga and Myu designs and was all over the idea of getting to have two fluffy rainbow skirts.
I put it off for a while and finally got my act together for Katsucon '10, and good gosh golly I had SUCH A BLAST wearing this costume. I loved all the ridiculous things I managed to do in it. I knew I was going to be the most hilariously tall and awkward-looking Sailor Moon ever (guys, she's 15, I mean COME ON) so I just rolled on out and enjoyed myself far more than I ever expected to. Thanks to Cristi and Camille for getting such an INCREDIBLE group of people together and making me the happiest Moon that ever did Moon. :3

- Styling Notes
- I had this wig for about a year before I made this costume. It came pre-styled, which saved me a whole lot of trouble, but left little stretching room for my head. :/
