About this Costume
Construction Details:
So I had my Daria boots and this belt/holster/vest thing I had picked up last year, and wanted to design a costume around those. Using some leftover sleeves and fabric (from an Alice in Wonderland Caterpillar that never happened) and coming off a Jane Austen kick, I decided something Regency inspired would suit everything nicely. The spencer/jacket was a blast to make, and is actually pretty clean and well-done (very well-done actually, as I went at it with a lighter and got a nice burned effect). I didn't have as much fabric or time for the dress as I would have liked, but I do enjoy how the hem turned out; the fabric I used turns this coppery color where I burned it, which accidentally tied the holster back in really nicely. Unable to decide what to do as far as a wig went, I just used my hair in some easy and vaguely regency style that actually seemed to suit the costume well.
Personal Thoughts:
This was a huge amount of fun to do. I think I'd like to do more distressed costumes in the future, as I learned a few tricks here I'd like to apply.
