Construction Details:

I wanted this costume to look as sleek and streamlined as possible, so I used a black mermaid zentai suit as the base and installed an invisible zipper in the tail so I can walk around when I need to. I made fins to slip my arms into and embellished the corset I made for Sally Jupiter with hundreds of rhinestones. I love how my neckpiece turned out, I used floral spray for the purple-silver gradient and trimmed the entire edge with a mix of tiny pearls, rhinestones, seashells, and pieces of glass. It's a shame you can't see them very well in photos! My hairpiece is made from a candle-holder, a jewelry box, cockle shells, and strings of pearls.

Personal Thoughts:

Even if you don't know me at all, you should know that I really, really, really love seals. So I immediately knew what I wanted to do when Fatwetdog put together a group of circus-themed original designs. I was surprised at how many people didn't recognize me with dark hair! This costume was so much fun, I got to bounce my butt around on that big rubber ball and laze around on the floor and tell everyone that, no, I am not supposed to be a gothic mermaid.
