About this Costume
Construction Details:
After searching for the right color fabric for months, I finally got lucky on ebay and fount several yards of mint green fleece for 99 cents. I quickly grabbed it and the color was PERFECT. The skirt is a simple circle skirt pattern with a ribbon tie in the back. The ice cream designs are cut out of two layers of craft foam glued together, and the entire thing is sewn directly onto the skirt. The top is a boned corset that laces in the back, and the leg and arm warmers are trimmed with ribbon to look like "hooves" and decorated with mini-foam ice creams. The necklace is also a ribbon with a foamie ice cream. The tail is a straight, cheap as dirt, purple wig that matches my real wig color-wise.

The ears I bought at PortCon earlier in the year and painted them to match the costume. The unicorn "horn" is a seashell I painted green. All three are attached to a purple headband. The wings are also made out of craftfoam, and are attached to the corset with snaps. These had a horrible time staying on, however, so I'm going to change the design next time I wear it.
Personal Thoughts:
Peppermint Crunch is one of the "Sundae Best" series ponies from the late 1980s. When I first decided to go to Dragon*Con, several of my friends asked if I wanted to join the My Little Pony photoshoot being organized there. I had seen photos from several of these gatherings before and thought the costumes were adorable, so I immediately agreed. I chose Peppermint Crunch because it was one of the only ponies I actually owned as a kid and really liked the color scheme. I absolutely LOVE this costume. It is comfortable and so much fun to wear!
