About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume was a learning experience! I started off having no clue how I was going to do anything, and only a ridiculously strong love for D'Eon and the series most people hadn't heard of until a year or so later.

I had never made a big dress before, never mind a corset or anything out of velvet. It was also the first time I had entirely drafted a pattern by hand, and not altered off a commercial pattern.

There is so much fabric in this costume, and it's GD heavy. The white underskirt has three huge layers, and is so ridiculously weighted that if I'm not wearing a corset it's painful. I was very proud to learn how to do 'swinging pleats' which allowed me to attach that ridiculous amount of fabric to a tiny waistband for the maximum dramatic oomph.

Personal Thoughts:
I have a love/hate relationship with this costume. No matter when I wore it, I always forgot some piece of it at home- always!

It's not finished which bothers me, though the details left are small - but I just can't seem to find another convention I want to wear it to.

It's a lot of work to put on and the weight is somewhat uncomfortable, plus Canadian cons are all in the summer.

Excuses aside, I probably just need to finish this thing 100% and get it off my chest!
