About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I wanted to make this costume as 'realistic' as possible, with each part of it functioning like clothing for a real boy.
The zipper in the collar unzips, which was handy for putting money during the con! The cargo pants had a fly and functioning pockets, and my fanny-pack was a great source of amusement for all my friends who decided to stick whatever they wanted in it (Cans of pop, grass, yaoi pamphlets half hanging out.) The fabric for the sweater is actual sweater fabric, comfortable and practical! I used a lot of specialty sportswear techniques on the sweater, which made it really durable and kind of added an extra realistic 'pop'.
My favourite part of this costume is probably the shoes, which started off as hideous black hiking boots and were thugged out into Renton's fly moonboots.
The wig was also another nod towards realism, I wanted fluffy boyhair that flicked out and framed my face. It started off as a very pale brown, and I custom coloured it into a warm chestnut. - Personal Thoughts:
- I got mistaken for a boy a LOT in this costume, but I didn't mind all the cute Eureka fawning - for such a simple outfit it was a ton of fun to wear.
My friend Eric also finished an entirely badass Holland in just three days to wear with me when he learned I was cosplaying Renton, that was awesome!
