About this Costume
Construction Details:
I seem to be inevitably drawn towards outfits that push the envelope on my sewing and crafting skills. This was certainly one of those costumes, but being a fan of Tsubasa and loving Sakura, I knew I had to make this outfit. I really wasn't sure if I would be able to do it, but I'm very proud of how it came out. Every minute spent working on this costume was a joy. Of the fabrics I used for this costume, I think the final count came out to be EIGHT different types. There are three layers of the ballgown over a three layered petticoat, and the gown top has three layers of body, boning, and a doubled over layer of ruffles. The design work constituted most of the hours put into this costume and was a combination of paint and applique. All of the gold applique that you see is not pieced together - they are continuous pieces of fabric throughout the whole design.
