Cosplayer Tikki > Costume of EVA Mass Production Unit 5 from Neon Genesis Evangelion
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I received help from a friend to make the base of the sword. Humidity in a Virginian garage warped it and I ended up building more thin cardboard layers on it and then covered it all in mylar (material used for model airplanes) with my father's help. The costume was a black bodysuit with vinyl shapes velcroed, and a few hard sections like the chest, head and wings. The aforementioned guy (Mike) designed the chest sections. We broke up mid-costume construction... so that's where my dad picked up the more complicated parts and helped me make wings that spread out. Mylar was also dad's idea. I love my dad! As for the body, essential assistance came from my high school pal Susan Meyer, cause I couldn't quite do my own back. Susan sketched out the parts for the back and helped me angle the rib sections. And that's about it...
- Personal Thoughts:
- It was my first year of costuming and so far I'd only done sexy and cute. I knew I could make more difficult stuff and toyed with the thought of the EVA 05. A few friends didn't take me seriously, so that decided it. Otakon was also on my birthday, so I nicknamed it my "birthday suit" for giggles.
