Cosplayer Melfina > Costume of Esther Blanchett from Trinity Blood
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I decided to use velveteen for the dress and wimple, and all of the bias tape was also custom-made out of velveteen to match, and then handsewed to the edges since it was too thick to machine sew.
The skirt is a full circle skirt made out of cotton broadcloth, with scallops cut out on the bottom. I painted and drew all of the designs on the skirt by hand with the aid of custom stencils I made out of cardstock paper.
And the armor and jewelry pieces are mostly model magic reinforced with craft foam, then spray painted and antiqued to its metallic finish. All of the arrows on the cuffs and collar are wonderflex, finished with gesso, and then spray painted + antiqued.
All of the snaps on the front of the dress are also fully functional, so the front panel snaps completely on and off. I detailed the boots with silver puffy paint, and designed iron-on crosses for the gloves.
- Personal Thoughts:
- The most difficult and detailed costume I've done to date. Trinity Blood holds a special place in my heart, and when I saw the anime, I knew I had to cosplay Esther since I could relate to her the most hands down. I was in love with her manga/artbook design the moment I saw it.
- Styling Notes
- Cut the bangs to the appropriate length, and trimmed the back of the wig, leaving the sides long.
