What can I say procrastination kills....
I've been cosplaying for about 3 years now.
My first cosplay(s) was/were a set of three. They were the main characters from Burst Angel that I cosplayed with two friends. The first set (Burst Angel) was total stroke of luck. I had no idea what I was doing (who does?) I had only really drawn before then and I hadn't done much sewing since I first learned way back in middle school.
The second set I made was my original (designed by me) Pokemon starter gijinka from Pokemon Red/Blue/Green, which was a total disaster.
My first solo cosplay was Azula from Avatar: the Last Airbender. As my first armor based cosplay, it took me a whopping 6 months to complete. I had no idea armor making was an entire different game/craft. Despite this I was very proud of my first solo cosplay, and it was enjoyable to work for myself.
As a cosplayer, I'm very driven to better myself and my art (and I definitely view cosplay as artwork).
In the works....
Raven from DC's Teen Titans (comic book version)
A teammate from TT also comic book ver. (my sister has agreed to model for me and I'm very grateful)
A special Finn from Adventure Time for my Hubby
