About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume definitely tried my patience. The 'sweater' is made from metallic spandex that was sewn using a technique that involved an asinine amount of stabilizer. I had to redo the back of it twice. Most of the seams were done by serger except for the sleeve caps. The hems were done with a twin needle. The collar is actually quilted. It started out as a rectangle that I serged to some thick quilt batting, quilted, then folded it in half and quilted again.

The back brace is some bizarre stretchy material that I can't even begin to describe. It's made from two layers of it, heavily interfaced with two layers of quilt batting to make it padded. It's topstitched and attaches with snaps.

The pants and gloves are made of a pale blue stretch twill that is a NIGHTMARE to work with. The pants also have piece of wire in the thighs to keep the shape. I had to remake the gloves three times until I got something that didn't look completely horrible.

The belt is made out of crepe satin, using the wrong side. The pouches are suede and crepe satin and were way harder than they should have been. The belt buckle is 1/4" thick fun foam, hot pink spandex, and paper clay for the lettering. It's held together with glue and a prayer.

The helmet is an actual riding helmet covered in metallic spandex. The letters are foam covered in metallic spandex and glued in place. The bow is two rectangles of metallic spandex. I can't even wear the helmet because it looks RIDICULOUS on my head, so it's a prop.

The 'spurs' are foam and gunmetal stretch pleather, glued together. They're held on with two thin strips of black elastic. The gems are made out of resin and were cast by a friend long ago. They were left over from my old Phantom Blood Dio costume. I painted ring fasteners and glued them to the gems.
Personal Thoughts:
SPANDEX.

Wig Review
If you're in the market for a Godiva-length wig, I really recommend the New Look one. It's very thick and has a LOT of hair in each weft.
