Construction Details:

I made the pants using a Civil War solider high-waisted pant pattern and the suspenders and shirt modified from store bought items. The gun was made from a resin model kit which I assembled and painted, and the coat is the official one from the show. My favorite part of the costume is the holster, which I made myself from a thick roll of cowhide and colored until I got the right shade. I learned a lot more about leather and metal working making this.

Personal Thoughts:

I'm a big fan of Firefly and Nathan Fillion in general, so when we decided to get a Firefly group together, I just had to choose the Captain. I even got to meet Jewel Staite (Kaylee) while dressed as Mal, and she called me Captain Tightpants. LOL
